A Cold War Gone Domestic

That the CIA and the DEA are working together via the war on drugs to subvert democracy both domestically and abroad, while treated like conspiracy theory in the media, is not credibly disputed among political scientists. It used to be the “Soviet threat” that was used to manipulate people into allowing government secrecy, scapegoating and other totalitarian tactics to prevail. These days it’s the “war on drugs” or “terrorism” invoked when the spooks and the war hawks want intervention against democracy rising against corporate colonialism. As Smedley Butler, one of the most decorated soldiers in US history put it: “War is a racket”. The notion that the CIA outspends it’s congressional budget by orders of magnitude and uses drugs imported from around the world to fund it’s spook ops is probably only the tip of the iceberg. Naturally the DEA would be the logical partner in a scheme to sell massive amounts of drugs to unsuspecting users in the US and use that funding to corrupt and bribe and torture their way around the globe partnering with despots rather than democratically elected leaders. Even our opposition, the authoritarian prohibitionists, contend that every purchase we make whether it be marijuana, cocaine or heroin, you’re actively funding terrorists. It’s a dangerous spooky game out there and never mind the military industrial complex shipping cocaine it’s those criminals and drugs dealers and users that are ultimately to blame, lock up, and enslave.

I was actually watching c-span one day and saw John Kerry, as milquetoast as the guy might be, said; “It’s hard to tell where the “good guys” end and the criminals begin”. He was talking about allegations and evidence that indicated that the CIA was using drug traffickers for funding in the Iran Contra scandal which ultimately altered an American election by preventing the earlier release of hostages held in Iran which had been brokered by George H.W. Bush in order to defeat Jimmy Carter by artificially positioning him as weak on foreign policy. The October surprise that tricked America into electing a tool like Ronald Reagan was funded by a CIA operation that also helped introduce crack cocaine to Los Angeles.
