Labor is the wellspring from which all capital flows
– Fr. McKenzie
There are some things I think about when I’m asked why people aren’t flocking to occupy to change or save the world. And I think it’s because they really don’t want it to change that much really . People are very comfortable in their delusions. We are now living through one of the most important periods in earth’s evolution. What we do in the next five years is going to either change things forever for the better, or we are going to begin experiencing the full wrath of mother nature and the continuing economic / environmental collapse. And it is not a question of jobs, or the environment. We need both. We need our jobs lean, green and meaningful. We must demand action in the proper direction now. We must demand it of ourselves and our leaders and we have nearly no time left for living in a lie. Time is up, it is do or die. Time to get moving, sitting this one out isn’t an option.
There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root.”
– Henry David Thoreau, Walden, or Life in the Woods
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”
– Upton Sinclair, I, Candidate for Governor: And How I Got Licked
